Alright well … What can I say about Barcelona … Everyone needs to visit Barcelona at least once. It has the old feel that Lyon has with the design and architecture of the buildings but a more American feel with the wider streets and pure size of the city. It’s all rolled up with other influences and it makes an awesome city. Connor and I flew in via Easyjet which turned a long car or train ride into a 1 1/2 hour flight. We took a cab to our apartment and paid in cash for the place. It was pretty shady, I wasn’t expecting to pay for the place in cash but it’s how it works over there. We looked around for a ATM for to no avail. Our contact person drove us to a nearby ATM where we pulled out the money. The weird part was he has his girlfriend with him the entire time and this whole ordeal took well over an hour. And then we paid in cash which added to the shadiness. The apartment on the upside was absolutely amazing. You can’t get any closer to the beach then where we were. It made me realize how much I love the beach and want to live on one. Anyways we had a lot of time until the others arrived so we checked out the city, had a few beers and some tapas. It was pretty amazing. I loved the feel of the city and just being able to pop into a place relax and enjoy a few small dishes then pop out and check out another place. I’m not sure this concept would work in the U.S. since the portions are super small but nonetheless it’s an interesting experience. After the others came we headed back cleaned up a bit and hit up a local bar. The rest of the week went pretty much like this:

1. Woke up and laid out on the beach for a few hours.
2. Got ready and headed into the city.
3. Explored and had Lunch.
4. Explored and had Dinner.
5. Explored and partied into the wee hours of the morning.

I did this for 4 days straight and I must say it was a ton of fun. There was a lot of things that we accomplished but this was pretty much the lifestyle we had in Barcelona. I have a lot more of the specifics in my personal private post so if you want some tips let me know, but I recommend going out seeing the major sites and then just exploring. I think your experience there will be unique and super fun. I can honestly say that Barcelona has not see the last of me!

In hindsight, this program because of the lacking academic quality is really opening me up. I’m focusing more on my social connections in an international setting and I feel that this will benefit my career more then the appearance of an additional degree. I’m able to not only make more, quality friends, but also ones from a different culture. However, don’t hold me to this just yet, I could flunk the French exams. I do have hope for Sweden and their academic tendencies being more in line with how we do things back home.

p.s. Jack you connard, give me back mah $50 … nah it’s ok I learned my lesson, never give you money in dim light.
