Alright, well still got a ton of stuff going on, but I’m learning to manage my time a bit better. I felt like a chicken with it’s head cut off when I got home. Running around and just trying to get settled into a routine. Now I have a new set of challenges. I’ve ordered a lot of stuff … essentials … to keep me connected. The biggest thing is a server. I ordered a new SuperMicro server. It’s not to beefy, but it’s got a terabyte of storage so I can access my storage and do backups remotely. I’m also going to put openvpn and tunnel everything through ssh so I can run all my services securely. I also bought a Samsung u600 … it’s a pretty sweet phone, it doesn’t sound as good as I’d expect from a mp3 player but what can you expect … it’s a phone. I also bought a nice North Face backpack because my awesome adidas Compression bag started ripping after 2 years of heavy torturous use. I also got some other little things, 8gb usb pen drive, memory card for the phone and another 2gb of ram for the laptop.

An update on the visa, the paperwork has all been filed and I have an interview at the consulate on Tuesday. We’ll see how that goes, but I’m pretty sure that they are making sure I am who I say I am.

Aside from visiting family before I leave, I’ve been having some trouble with Orbitz. Aer Lingus ( yea I know unusual name ) they allow passenger changes, so when my friend dropped the program, another friend, Benji took his place because he didn’t buy a ticket yet ( I know procrastinator ). So I called and Aer Lingus and they allow it, just for $90. Then Orbitz tacks on another $30. Well then they call me the next day about confirming his name, i.e Benji being short for Benjamin … so long story short after another 3 hours on the phone their ticket system wasn’t taking the change. So they put in a ticket with the help desk and told me to call back tomorrow … then they call me back 15 minutes later wanting to confirm that his first name is Benjamin and not his middle name … AND they said to call tomorrow to follow up and make sure the change happened.

Anyways I’m going to go social engineer my way into a major Ashburn datacenter.

au revoir
