Well, yesterday I went and apply for my passport. It was a bit easier then I thought it would be. I got my 2 photos, my birth certificate, filled out the DS-11 application, paid the $157.00 ( expedited service ) and waited for about an hour. Taking my original birth certificate made me a little uneasy, but other then that pretty smooth. I’m still really excited. Although I’m busy, I’m still doing a lot of research and playing with the Rosetta Stone.

On a different note, I was hanging out with some friends and my roommate’s girl friend brought her laptop down. My roommate gave her my wireless key. I didn’t notice until I got a alert from my router about another dhcp lease. I asked her about it, and she said something along the lines, “yea what are you going to do hack me?”. So … I did. I threw a scan at it, I noticed the popular Microsoft 135, and 139 ports open. Then I used a exploit for Windows RPC with a simple windows adduser shellcode. That got me an account on the machine. Then I changed the shellcode to execute a command string that starts the Terminal Services service and Remote Desktop. After that it was all downhill. I didn’t do much, just proof that I was there. But this proves that just being up to date is not enough. It really didn’t take me long at all. Either way I’m still proud, and I’m going to help her lock it down. Hopefully she’ll be a bit more on top of things when she jumps on to some unknown wireless network :-)
